The canines all seemed to welcome their first tender cuddles; many burrowed into the arms of our volunteers, and tails wagged excitedly. Life in a commercial breeding facility is a cruel existence, where animals are treated as commodities, but now the dogs will be receiving all the care they need. Ted Moriates, Animal League America Rescue Team Leader, explained, “These guys were no longer wanted by their commercial breeders, and we are the lucky ones who got them. They all will be going to grooming. They’re meeting with our vets, they’re meeting with our training department, and they’re all going to be ready to find loving homes.”
The journey to recovery for some of the dogs will be extensive – requiring medical and dental treatments and behavioral care – but our no-kill promise means that they will all have everything they need to thrive. Now each one of these endearing rescues can put their awful start to life behind them, and one day soon will get to flourish in their new home.
